Don't eat any junk food, no desserts except fruit, and exercise daily (walking doesn't count unless your over 50).
Fad diets and pills will not work.
Excercise and eat well. Also, I'd recommend cutting back on or giving up: soda (including diet), other sugary drinks (juice etc.) and alcohol. As each of these beverages have a lot of sugar and calories, cutting back on them can have a big impact on your waistline.
Cut your calorie intake to 1500-1800 calories per day. Cut out all red meats. Eat whole grains and low fat or non fat dairy. If hunger is an issue eat high volume, low calorie foods like fruits and vegetables. They will fill you up more and keep you full longer. I used this method and lost 25 in 5 months.

Breakfast: Two egg whites scrambled with low fat cheddar, two pieces whole wheat toast, and one cup of skim milk.Snack: One small apple with two tbsp peanut butter, waterLunch: One can of tune mixed with half a cup of low fat cottage cheese eaten on seven reduced fat triscuits, water.Snack: Small box of raisin, Seven carrot sticksDinner: Salad with mushrooms and chick peas and 2 tbsp fat free dressing. One baked tilapia fillet, small baked potato, and broccoli. Diet cola. That should give some idea of how many calories to eat and the type of foods to get them from. I also exercised for 30-60 minutes four times a week, mostly cardio and yoga. Oh, and most experts recommend you lose one or two pounds a week .
ten pounds is pushing it! it would be unhealthy to try to lose all that weight so quickly. 5-8 sounds good...drink lots of water, eat in moderation, exercise more, and get off the computer! right now you could be jogging! that's if you are on the internet from work.
